Around the cityMoto TaxisMoto taxis are very popular around the city and you will see them on every corner. These are a cheap way to get around the city and you can hire a moto taxi for the day for around US$8. For a short journey you should expect to pay around 50 cents. Tuk TuksTuk tuks are available in Phnom Penh, but they are nowhere near as common as in Siem Reap. These are a good way to get around the city if you can find one and they cost around US$10 to US$12 per day to go sightseeing in the city centre. For a short journey you should expect to pay between US$1 to US$2. TaxisTaxis are a good way to get around town as well if you want a bit of air conditioning and you are going to the outskirts of the city or further. A taxi will probably charge you around US$20 to US$25 per day. Taxis are not normally used for short journeys. MotorbikesIn Phnom Penh it is possible to hire motorbikes for the day unlike Siem Reap where it is not possible. To hire a motor bike in Phnom Penh you should expect to pay between US$6 and US$8 per day. Ask your hotel for the nearest place that rents them. Most people hire the 250cc dirtbikes but 110cc or 125cc bikes are very common. We do not recommend hiring a motorbike though, as the traffic is pretty bad in Phnom Penh and many accidents occur everyday through wreckless driving. Remember in Cambodia they drive on the right hand side of the road and if someone is flashing their lights at you it does not mean they are letting you through like in some countries, it means get out of the way! Please note: We strongly recommend you do NOT use this mode of transport for getting around Phnom Penh as the traffic is crazy, but if you must rent a motorbike than be sure to at least wear a helmet. Trickshaws or CyclosIf you are only going a short journey, and you are not in a hurry, then you could also use a trickshaw or cyclo which you will see around the city.
